Politics, Economics, and Religion

Religion has so many connections to political and economic beliefs, there needs to be a place to identify linkages, problems, goals, options, action plans and evaluation criteria.

What is the purpose of life?

An eternal question, what is the purpose of life?, occupied philosophers’ thoughts throughout history. Stone pictographs reveal even primitive peoples reflected on this query. Each one has the capacity to define his or her personal thinking about politics, economics and religion.

Doubtless you've heard about some of the warning signs we've had prior to the advent of coronavirus in the US: that it was possible, later that it wasn't just possible that it was coming, identifying SARS-COVID-2 as a genuine threat, and projected…Continue

We need to understand Wall Street did this to the U.S. economy and labor

I agree! 100%!! Wall Street sold-out U.S. labor and sent production of goods to cheap Chinese labor. We don't need to blame anyone but U.S. administrations and Wall Street! What we need to do now is bring production of goods back to the U.S., pay…Continue

So ... Bolton was "deeply disturbed" by what he saw going on in the Oval Office, yet he couldn't be bothered to speak out about it during the impeachment hearings, but is only opening up NOW that his book is coming out.

What does that make him, other than yet one more Trump enabler?

“Police tear-gassed protesters to clear space for Trump’s walk on water...” (Outside the White House, Trump, in a “Jesus” robe and sash, walks on water in an inflatable kiddie pool as reporters and a TV camera look on.)

The big difference is that I'm explicitly using my (and "our") own judgment, rather than passing it off to an invisible friend. Conversely, we have no problem deciding that certain things are "good", no gods needed.

I do see terms like "sin" as specifically theistic.

Cat, your remark about SCOW (Supreme Court of Wisconsin) reads much like what a theist preacher would say: fully synonymous with "evil".

If #45 #3 were an air traffic controller in this time of the novel coronavirus:

Donald Trump leaning back in his executive's chair inside the PANDEMIC CONTROL air traffic control tower, surrounded by a crowded sky of airliners, one clearly having done a crazy roll: “...Flight 702, you may want to circle, but it’s up to YOU. Delta 2130, there’s a jet on your taxiway which may just DISAPPEAR, who knows? Southwest 509, whatever...”

Wisconsin, our newest petri dish. <sigh> Great, but disturbing, image. Thanks.

This week a conservative (now fully synonymous with "evil") majority on the Wisconsin supreme court struck down the state's stay-at-home order.

"The latest cheesehead":

Death, the Grim Reaper, with robe, scythe, and Wisconsin cheesehead

And on many restaurants and bars being allowed to reopen for dining in (to the delight of the powerful Tavern League; fortunately the ruling didn't preempt stricter local rules):

Clueless couple eagerly walk towards the door of a restaurant and bar's facade, with signs 'Open for Business', 'Eats', 'Fun', 'No social distancing', and 'Bar open'. They don't notice the sidewalk sign, 'COVID-19 victory party tonight', and don't see the giant coronavirus, fork and spoon in hand, poised to devour them.

Protesters in front of “Huntington Bleach [sic] Trump City USA” beach, with signs including “I Demand My Freedumb”, “I have watched every show on Netflix” (carried by a man with a “PATRIOT” shirt with a Confederate flag), “LOOK IT ME I NEED MUH HAIR STYLIST”, “I AM EXACTLY LIKE ROSA PARKS” (carried by a bald-headed neoNazi in brown shirt with “T” armband), “I’M okay with YOU dying”, “Essential Eater”, “Good health = Socialism :(“, “My mask itches” (carried by man in MAGA hat), “UNLOCK HER UP!”, “NO aid for illegals but make them go to work” (carried by a woman wearing a “Yo [corazón] Trump” T-shirt), “My cats want me out”, “It’s just like the flew” [sic], “This China hoax is from Mexico” (carried by a man with a Fox News cap), “Open Up the Cemeteries too” (carried by Death in a black robe with a scythe), and “What a waste of a beach body” (carried by an old mustachioed man). At the bottom is someone wearing a cap with two small bleach bottles with drinking tubes, like beer-drinking caps. Cartoon COVID-19 viruses (SARS-CoV-2) are everywhere.

An updated handwashing song for the U.S., in the time of #45 #3 and COVID-19:
The HANDWASHING SONG to the tune of “Happy Birthday”: (woman with apron washing hands in employee restroom) “♫ Donald Trump is no good...♪” (boy on stepstool washing hands) “♪...Never does what he should! ♫” (three people in unison, seen through three windows of a hospital) “♪...He’s become our worst president, like we knew that he would! ♫”
