A place to post quotations that inspired you, made your day better, or made you pause and think.

I will be taking a reduced role at Atheist Nexus as of Oct 1, 2017.  I will not be moderating this group after that time, and I will be re-zeroing most of my groups and comments.

If there are quotations that you wish to save, I recommend that you save them now.

Since this is a popular group, I recommend that a member start up a new group for quotations, so that the members can continue adding and reading their favorite quotes.

Thanks and happy reading!

Truth is the daughter of time, and I feel no shame in being her midwife.

The greatest enemy of the truth is very often not the lie, deliberate, continued and dishonest -- but the myth -- present, persuasive, and unrealistic.
--John F. Kennedy

“But now," says the Once-ler, "now that you're here, the word of the Lorax seems perfectly clear. UNLESS someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not.”

The Lorax

Dr. Seuss was my first philosopher. I remember clearly reading for the first time , " The Lorax". Afterwards I hated industrialists and became aware, for the first time, about my future Earth.

On a lighter note,

“I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some come from behind. But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!”

― Dr. Seuss

I figure I'd break out ol' RGI again, 'cuz Daniel likes him so well:

I will not attack your doctrines nor your creeds if they accord liberty to me.  If they hold thought to be dangerous – if they aver that doubt is a crime, then I attack them one and all, because they enslave the minds of men.
-- Robert Green Ingersoll

Tom, Thanks for calling my attention to the "happy" nature of this verb-cloud. If god was not a noun, the word did not mean a person place, or thing. If god is a verb, and there is no God, then it is people who have the power that we ascribe to a superhuman being. See my response to Loren.

"I may be the first woman member of Congress, but I won't be the last."
