Freedom is always the freedom of dissenters.
-- Rosa Luxemburg

This is a lesson we seem to have to teach over and over again, whether we're talking about women, blacks, the LGBTQ community or us – atheists.  When the majority have so dominated the conversation that minority positions have been lost in the noise, they need to be reminded that there are other opinions in the air, and that the tyranny of the majority is still a thing.

Very cool hidden talents of our members!  Alan and Bertold!

I was a speechwriter for a couple of years too. (Post-Watergate days, 23 Ds and 7 Rs in the state senate.) I've always been fond of a catchy quote.

I've been a speechwriter for 25+ years -- I love quotes.

"I am afraid. Not of life or death, or nothingness, but of wasting it as if I had never been."

Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.

Joan, thanks for the Ingersoll day and quotes. This one that you posted, really speaks to me: "I do not believe in forgiveness as it is preached by the church. We do not need the forgiveness of God, but of each other and of ourselves. – Robert G. Ingersoll

Yes Alan, just post something that you find meaningful or compelling or inspiring or thought provoking, in the comments. It's been a running series, and I love seeing what people find worthwhile sharing.

Alan, I am glad you joined this group; lots of interesting quotes and conversations. Here is how you post:

"As more people become more intelligent they care less for preachers and more for teachers."
– Robert G. Ingersoll

Alan, just post a quote which is meaningful to you or you think speaks to this group.  It doesn't HAVE to be about atheism, though many quotes are.  I usually post one quote a day.  Repeats are inevitable, but considering that they frequently have something important to say, we don't worry about that ... much!  [grin!]

So please join right in!

Hello all...I just joined and would like to participate.  How and where do I actually post a quote?.
