This thing I see on the right side of the screen. This "Discover, Is evolution true?...". Has anybody taken a serious look at it? Is all that stuff seriously meant? or is it some kind of funky satire? If the last, its really good! Example: " Many educated people accept the theory of evolution. But is it true? Curiously enough, our existence as human beings is one of the best arguments against it. According to evolutionary theory, the traits that offer the greatest advantage for survival are passed from generation to generation. Yet human reproduction itself argues powerfully against this fundamental premise of evolution. If human beings are the pinnacle of the evolutionary process, how is it that we have the disadvantage of requiring a member of the opposite sex to reproduce, when lower forms of life—such as bacteria, viruses and protozoa—are sexless and far more prolific? If they can reproduce by far simpler methods, why can't we? If evolution is true, what went wrong? "

Couple of years ago soon after the God Delusion. The act who played the character even looked a bit like him. As they usually do on these shows, they mixed things up a bit and his character had some elements of SJ Gould.

I had to delete and repost my first comment. After rereading it, I see now that I butchered Dawkins' name twice, which embarrasses me greatly as both an atheist and a former newspaper editor. (Sorry about that!) Here it is again, corrected.

I enjoyed The God Delusion. Dawkins ties in a variety of different subjects and makes them very accessible to the general public, without giving the impression that it's "dumbed down," so to speak.

As someone who is not yet well-versed in scientific and social topics related to atheism, but is hoping to become so, I think the book was an excellent starting point. I look forward to reading Dawkins' other writings.

Shanika, that's great to hear! In tons of articles about Dawkins and interviews about him, people say he's basically preaching to the choir in The God Delusion. So I guess people who are religious can actually get something useful out of the book. I got a lot out of it, but I was already a non-believer when I started reading it.
