Welcome science fiction & fantasy fans!

As a science fiction/fantasy writer myself, I enjoy taking voyages into the unknown. Looking at the universe as it isn't often helps us put the real world into perspective. It's also fun to take an occasional vacation from the often-harsh reality around us. Unlike the theists, the religionists, the god-groupies who feel compelled to live in fantasy realms, we visit them and then come back home--and then go voyaging again.

I hope you'll all feel free to congregate here and compare your experiences in other worlds and times.

Flash Gordon-I miss...sigh
Doctor Who-I can't get enough of (and actually created the group TARDIS)--Torchwood is hella good as well!!

My telly is usually always on the SciFi channel!! I'm going to go and buy all the DVD sets of all my fave sf shows...and just veg and eat and enjoy that which is good and science fiction-y!!..

I can actually recommend renting the DVD of BG Season 1 (new series). It was very well done and well-acted. The acting and the production values were actually good throughout; it's the writing that deteriorated so horribly.

I love Eureka too; looking forward to the new season. PD was fantasy rather than sf, but nothing wrong with that. I agree it was beautiful and fresh, one of the most original shows on the air in many years. Damn...I wish someone could touch it and bring it back to life!

I, also, have not watched any of the new BG. I tried really hard, and somewhat succeeded, to enjoy STNG, but the old ST will always have a fond place in my t.v. memories.
Even if I find it hard to watch those old episodes... haha.

I have much more enjoyed the newer, fresher shows, such as Eureka and Pushing Daisies... while I know that PD is more fiction than science, it's an ejoyable waste of time.

Drat, I'll have to sit this one out. I've not seen a single episode of the new Battlestar, probably because I have such foul memories of the old Battlestar. Don't worry about spoilers, though. I look forward to seeing the discussion.

Okay, I'll start something off. I thought the finale to Battlestar Galactica sucked little pink bunnies. The first couple of years were fantastic, much better than the original series. I thought it was particularly bemusing that the good guys were polytheistic and the bad Cylons were the monotheists. Then it all fell apart in a spiritualistic mishmosh, where no one was sure what was going on. And it all ended with Adam & Eve, as I'd been afraid it would. The ending was more self-indulgent (speaking as a writer) than the AIG bonuses!

Super idea for a group, Steve. I can't wait for the ideas to start flowing.
