I'm not sure this question is of broad interest to SWiFT members, but as an ex-Catholic, I can't help wondering and would love to know what others think.I raise the question of Jesus' historical…Continue

I have a basic understanding of the separation of church and state, and I am a huge advocate.  It's why I joined ffrf.  I think people should be free to be religious or not.  I get why church/state…Continue

I am signed up for the bus. It is a break neck schedule, but it is also the only way I can attend the Rally. I still need 17 more tickets to sell in order for the trip to be confirmed. I will be crushed if it doesn't. C'mon!!! Once in a lifetime with a weekend ticket. No housing or parking. True, there can be no partying after, but Dawkins and Bad Religion on the same venue???

We gotta go!!!

Hi Kurt.  Yes, I'm going to be there with Margie and the girls.  You've got my cell.  We plan to get there at 9am to stake out a good spot for the day.  Just saw the official schedule:

Looks like it will be a great day!

See you there,

Hey everyone, the Reason Rally is coming up fast.  SWiFT has 8 members going for sure.  Come on, there is still time to arrange travel plans for possibly one of the most important events in your life!  (hows that for hyperbole?)  Seriously, if you are even thinking a little bit about it, you really need to go.  If you are going, please let me know so we can meet.

Hi Kurt. I'm bringing my whole family to the Reason Rally. Hope to see you and SWiFT there too.

Sorry to miss the meeting today. Just got home from Lake Geneva. Margie and I were celebrating our 23rd wedding anniversary.

Hope to catch up soon.

Troy, that's so funny!  It's interesting how different kids and their personalities are.  My 10 year old daughter hasn't ever believed in anything.  No tooth fairy, no Santa, no god, nothing.  She flew out of the womb a born skeptic.  My son, on the other hand...wowsers!  I'll be right where you are with the bubble bursting when he gets a little older!  LOL.

She is unconvinced, and vowed to research.

This is the best path you can provide to her: Directly to the public library!!  Let the researching begin.....

Oh - my poor 9 year old.

I was helping her with a school paper last night when I was forced to burst a big time bubble for her.

Her paper was about our German heritage and what traditions we celebrate to continue. My family is pretty American so we had to stretch the boundaries. We settled on the celebration of X-mas with pine trees as the Germans did.

She agreed stating that Marin Luther was German and he invented the Christmas Tree (poor thing).

I had to be the guy to tell her the decorating of pine and the celebration of Christmas itself was stolen from the pagans celebrating the Winter Solstice. She is unconvinced, and vowed to research.

Maybe the discussion that all religion is myth just like Santa will go easier than I expected.
