Good morning (at least for me)! Started the day off with peach topped French toast (my peaches), and coffee (electric perked).
Looks like a nice day--too nice to sit indoors watching boring golf or baseball on TV. I can always find something to do outdoors, even if it involves work.
Have a good one.
Good point Randy. I can't stand coffee that's touched any sort of electric appliance, or that's been warmed up. I get Starbucks Yukon blend and Starbucks French roast at Costco and mix them. Grind it fresh every morning and use a Melitta drip pot. It's good, although weirdly I hate coffee at an actual Starbucks store; it always tastes burned. We have a couple very good local coffee houses here in town when I feel like shelling out five bucks a pop for a nice latté.
Perhaps this comment belongs in the book group, but this seems more appropriate.
Bob Arnot, M.D. (of TV fame) has written The Coffee Lover's Diet; Change your Coffee, Change your Life. He's convinced me I've been short-changing myself on enjoying better coffee. I need to get rid of the cheap stuff (Aldi brand) and spend more money on quality coffee. Beans, not pre-ground.
Dr. Arnot says drinking coffee is not just tasty, but healthy with lots of phenols. He lists many health benefits associated with coffee. Very convincing.
Good "Hump Day" morning. Of course, being retired, that's a meaningless term.
Hot oatmeal with fresh blueberries (picked last week) and coffee for breakfast. Ready to tackle the day.
After my walk, I need to cut and remove 3 large limbs--actually tops--from trees that broke and fell during a rain storm yest. One fell on my county road that I chainsawed immediately, as it was a danger to vehicles. They fly down my road. I thought about leaving the limb for awhile to slow down cars and trucks, but worried someone would not see it and crash.
Well, smile and enjoy your day.
Started my day off with a waffle (leftover) with raspberries on top. Coffee, natch. Slept through a thunderstorm overnight. Was surprised to see an inch of rain in my gauge. A welcome sight. The dog should find plenty of water for our daily walk. Have a great weekend and 4th.
I agree with Don--"the jury is out"--regarding gluten-free food. It's one of those see-saw issues. Same with coffee, eggs, bacon, etc., which, by the way, is what I had for breakfast this morning.
Then, I went for a 5 mile walk to beat the heat forecast (forecasted?). Still hot--too hot for my dog. She had one water break (creek). I just may have to turn on the AC today!
I understand, Joan. A worthy experiment, though the jury is out on this one.
My son-in-law has terrible rheumatoid arthritis. He tries every idea that comes along. I live with him and my daughter and try to provide healthy meals for them. I support everything he tries. The current experiment is gluten-free food.
Joan, I wonder, is there some specific health reason you're looking for gluten-free recipes?
I meant to comment on my great love for dark, rich coffee with half-and-half and honey. I usually have two cups with my toast and my A.M. Rx. Another couple of cups when I complete my daily chores and sit down, usually in a horizontal position.
