In the Navy in 1950 my “buddies” told me to drink it or skip the coffee break.Naive, I believed them but needed four teaspoons of sugar to make it drinkable.Several months ago read of cold-brew in…Continue

I just can't drink cold coffee. Tea, now, is a different story. I love it both hot and iced. It's difficult finding loose leaf tea, however--especially green leaf.

I am looking at cold brewers for tea & coffee too. I like to choose my own sweetness levels, & I love these cold in the hot weather. Not to mention store bought is expensive.

A fruit smoothie for breakfast gives enough sugar for the day, after that I don't want sweetened food or drink anymore.

Put less sugar in your coffee.

Have you ever made sun tea? Water plus tea bags plus time?

I tried cold brewed coffee at a Starbucks, found it less bitter, and used no sugar. At Target I found a cold brew pot and I now brew it in the fridge.

Not having a sweet tooth makes me care less about sugar. I also can't stand cream in my coffee....I use a tiny bit of powdered milk, like about a 1/4 tsp. per large mug.

Randy, yes, but doing so with smaller amounts of sugar in each cup of coffee. I had my six-month check-up this week, and all my blood chemistry was well within the normal range. I lost a significant amount of weight. We surmised the loss was due to eating many more fresh vegetables because both Laura and Larry have developed food allergies to gluten. I make up for the lost carbohydrates with more fresh fruits and vegetables. We have each lost weight.

Laura makes us a fruit smoothie each morning, and although it is high in carbs, she uses mostly apples, blueberries, and other berries. We follow the glycemic index as a guide when making food choices. My diabetes is under good control with this regimen.

Good morning, all!

Started my day off with fried string potatoes with an egg on top. I'm getting close to getting my coffee strength right (with my new coffee maker).

I'm back to eating more sugar than I should. Joan, how are you doing? Are you still trying to cut back?

Randy, I tried to go sugar-free yesterday and I only could do half a day. By five-O-clock, I felt exhausted, brewed me a fresh cup of French press and had it with cream and sugar.
