In the Navy in 1950 my “buddies” told me to drink it or skip the coffee break.Naive, I believed them but needed four teaspoons of sugar to make it drinkable.Several months ago read of cold-brew in…Continue

Good Sunday morning all you non church goers!

I just had one of my favorite breakfasts: hashed browns with an egg over it. I spice it up with "Cavender's All Purpose Greek Seasoning". I use it on so many things. On the side, I had red raspberries. My Fall crop is coming on. And don't forget the coffee!

I'm now off on a walk, despite the heat. We're going to hit 90 again. Good day to all of you.

That's the difficult part....our forests are vast, so trying to get away from it all is a challenge big time. A houseboat in the middle of a huge lake is beginning to sound very attractive.

But it must be an impossible situation when all the smoked out people evacuate to cleaner areas! How much place is there 'away from forests'? I'm glad Rick is well, but there's a lot to worry about!

We'd probably head for Chadd's again, but this year, he could be in the same situation himself. He broke up with his girlfriend so its just him & 2 cats now so we could all likely get in his truck & go somewhere....... away from forests!!!

I also think we'll have to pay attention to the fire watch page as we did last year as well, & do the school bus thing to get out of here. If we are able to make our way to Chadd's we could likely figure out something from Prince George.

I want us prepared as much as we can.

I would be worrying, too, Patricia. If you were to evacuate, where would you go? Is there an evacuation plan for this season as there was last year? As I remember, that experience was made more tolerable because of the kindness of your hosts.

The neighbours are helping us out in many cases, & I have a housekeeper twice a month.

Rick's recovery has gone very well, so he's nearly back to his usual self. He's leaving Tuesday for Kelowna to have his 6 week checkup, right into another fire & smoke area.

Our daughter is leaving Kelowna on Tuesday as well to go to Calgary to be there for the birth of her first grandchild.......& its another smoky area, so I'll have both to worry about. Rick is flying, but Aurora is driving.

Patricia, with your need for surgery and Rick just getting through one, do you have someone who can help you?

Since smoke is everywhere, we'd have no place to go anywhere nearby. I am however thinking Iceland!!!! Hahahaha.

We have fires getting closer, so its time to get the cat carriers, & suitcases organized.

But no fire close to you? Must be very bad on your system - and how can you escape smoke?

We can't see our surrounding forestry any much smoke.
