Joan, Larry has the right idea! I think I'd like him.

As it turned out, I had dinner with my daughter and family after all. Nate's dad wasn't feeling well, so they canceled their gathering. We had the first BLTs of the season with Nate's own tomatoes (greenhouse). I furnished the strawberries for shortcake dessert.

Plus, all 4 children called, texted, or emailed a Happy Fathers Day message. I'm a very lucky dad.

Randy, Larry felt something similar and so he programmed his whole day:

1. Brunch at Blanchard;

2. Drive to the top of some mountain for the most spectacular sight I have seen in a long, long time; and a nap after.

3. A cold fried chicken dinner with potato salad, and watermelon, which he brought home;

4. A German chocolate cake with a cherry on top, which he brought home.

A lovely day occurred and I didn't have to cook a thing or wash a single dish. Now! That is the kind of Fathers Day celebration I like. I will remember it next Mothers Day

To any and all fathers out there, HAPPY FATHERS DAY!

Nothing special, celebration wise, happening to me.

I have 4 adult children--one in Honduras, two in California, one nearby. The only child that can personally do anything (like dinner) will be joining her husband and his dad to celebrate. It's always been that way. Alternating every year would be nice, but...

Anyway, I can watch the U.S. Open with no distractions!

Sounds tasty, Randy.

Been buying Salt Spring Island coffees lately. I need to change my brands regularly as I seem to lose my taste for the same one all the time.

Been having a few downpours lately, which is fine by us as long as it keeps the fires away. We have several burning in the province at the moment, many from lightning, but mostly human caused.

An omelet, bacon, orange, and, of course, coffee started my day. Last evening's storm as passed (another unwelcomed inch), and it looks like a nice cool day ahead. I'll take a long walk this morning and then tackle the yard and garden this afternoon after the ground dries out a bit.

What's up with you all today?

(The "Hang With Friends" group is getting a bit too heavy for my taste. So I'm using this group for a lighter touch.)

But, but, but ............climate change is a fallacy, dontchuh know?

Hurray! My power is back on. Evidently, a storm knocked a tree down on a power line just down the road from me overnight. So, I was without electricity for about 9 hours. That meant no coffee! Ugh.

So, I went for a walk (6 miles). I had to wade through lots of water that had ponded on the road. We got over two inches of rain in 12 hours. The ground is already super saturated. Farmers have absolutely nothing planted yet this year. It's really crunch time. My farming SIL is pulling his hair out. He may lose his (my) $50,000 hemp seed investment.

Grinning Cat, is this the one to which you refer?

Why is it, "Bach's Coffee Cantata is early in the morning music while Mozart's "Eine kleine Nachtmusik" is not?

By the way, thank you for the tip on how to say it in German, "It's a little night music."

Oh! I get it. Thanks

Plinius, I didn't realize you supplied a link and I searched for Bach's Kaffee Kantate. I like the version you supplied better than what I found. Thanks!
