Every little patch of snow melts into the aquafer and sporadic rain comes and goes. Cold winds made a mess of my empty clay flower pots stacked neatly outside our garden shed and greenhouse. Fallen branches will have to wait for warmer weather before I gather them for the burn pile.

We had a Yule celebration on winter solstice that involved great food and vibrant conversation. It is now 10:30 PM Dec. 24. We will have a family dinner tomorrow with ham and the usual side dishes. My granddaughter, Laurie, will bring a breakfast casserole tomorrow morning and then prepare the rest of the dinner. Her cooking always delights us; her partner and their two children eat healthy, delicious, fresh food. Her frugal nature does not cause a loss of taste, quality, and quantity in her food choices.

We don't give gifts either; our celebrations occur on their birthdays. We treasure our time together.

I hope each one of you and your families has a safe, interesting, and joyful day tomorrow and the coming end of the year. We all can enjoy a  well-deserved rest and recuperation.

Our school-age children enjoy the freedom of these holidays. They will be out on their bikes riding the trails if the weather cooperates.

Good morning! Xmas starts wet and windy with high - 10 C - temperatures. No celebrations here, apart from what we celebrate every day - but we'll cook dinner for two old friends tomorrow.

We don't gift our grandkids either, never have. Can't afford so many, & will not give money to the post office to move packages. We send a cheque to each of our 3 kids, & they can do with it what they will, & that's as far as we go.

Another glorious winter's day! The sun is "rising", and the temperatures are predicted to reach nearly 60 (15C).

Two of my grandchildren (4 & 7) spent the day with me yest. They road bikes on the quiet county road out front. It was (and will be) so nice to be outdoors. It may be a record high temp on Christmas day.

I have nothing planned for tomorrow. My daughter invited me over for Christmas, but I think they should spend their morning as a family with no grandpa hanging around (like their grandma does).

For the record, I don't give presents to my 3 local grandchildren--or, for that matter, any of my 4 children. My excuse is "fairness". With 3 grandchildren and 3 children living far away (Calif and Honduras), it isn't fair to give gifts only to the local kids. And I'm not about to send boxes to far away places. And I don't need or want any gifts from any of them. It all works out.

Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, Merry Christmas anyway!

Good morning! Just having my first cup of coffee. After three cups I'll switch to herb tea for the rest of the day. Have a nice day!

Patricia, your lisp-coffee schedule cartoon works for me and I join the kitty in the pleasure of coffee aroma in the morning.
