Body Disposal Carbon Footprint

You could drive almost 4,800 miles on the energy used to cremate one person. This surprised me. I'd imagined cremation as green, since it doesn't compete with food production, or require mowing grass…Continue

We lost one of our funniest comedians recently. Tim Conway died at age 85. He always cracked me up.

Richard Lugar (87) died yesterday. Former mayor of Indianapolis and U.S. senator, Lugar was the only Republican I ever remember voting for. He was not only a good bipartisan senator, but a good fellow.

Once, I was sitting with my family on a mall bench in Washington D.C., when he came jogging by. I hollered, "Senator Lugar! We're from Indiana!" He stopped abruptly and said hello while shaking our hands.  He won't get the press that John McCain got in passing, but he deserves it. Farewell Senator Lugar.

Sorry to see that Andre Previn died last week. He was a musical genius from classical to jazz. His jazz piano playing ranked #1 in my book as the best ever.

Burt Reynolds has died. Quite the character. I loved his droll sense of humor.

On his deathbed, Leonardo da Vinci's parting words were, "The soup is getting cold." Perhaps not.

I see that David Ogden Stiers died yesterday (Mar 3). He was the pompous ass on M.A.S.H. I saw him conduct an orchestra in Breckenridge, CO on July 4th, 1990 while we were on vacation.

As you probably know by now, Hugh Hefner died on Sept. 27th. I googled him (Wikopedia) to uncover his religious beliefs, but found little. He was obviously very liberal. Farewell, Hugh.
