Where everyone's an admin

Make all your html nightmares come to life. Test your widgets and embedded code disasters. Totally destroy the admin options. Do it here, where it doesn't matter how much you screw up.

In this, the information area (right here, between the "Where everyone's an admin" and "Discussion Forum" blue bars), isolate your splatter like this -

=== Start, Your Name, date ===

whatever crap you want here

=== End, Your Name, date ===

Residue more than a few days old will get deleted.

Send message if you haven't been given administrator rights and you want them.

=== leave everything above intact this, do whatever you please below ===

Certainly posts can be removed, Chris.  Whether they're erased from the database or simply marked, "do not display" is an entirely separate matter and should be a cause for concern.

The thought that everything posted on the "Internet"  remains forever is false. Posts can be removed.

I would not be surprised if you are right.

With so much hacking and privacy violation and bots and other stuff, I just want to reduce my internet exposure.  Plus, the tone of Nexus these days is not good for me, too much negativity, Trump obsession, "the sky  is falling". "the world is ending", and "all those bad people everywhere", and not much of "here's why it's great being atheist, living in this time, and being happy.  So, I need to get off the site for a while.  There is no reason to keep posts that are 9 years old.  Also, no reason to keep groups that are no longer active.  And no reason to stay in groups that I don't read any more.

There is a sort of nuclear option - leave Nexus.  I think there is an option on leaving Nexus, that involves deleting all posting history.  I could do that, then re-join with a different profile, not intending to fool anyone, but rather to have a clean Nexus slate.  The negative of that, is that the groups that I started would still exist, but with no moderator.

I agree with your that Nexus needs moderation.  As I stated, I've been on here since 2008.  There have been a few occasions where we were told we would be made moderator - you and me and a couple of others - but it never happens. Past behavior is the best predictor for future, so I don't think it ever will.

I am not sure what to do about groups that I created, and would like to see continue.  It is possible to select someone as moderator, but not possible to return as group creator, so the functions are fewer.  I think.  I need to check on that.   If I take the nuclear option those groups could be permanently without moderation / supervision.  Maybe join with a new profile, then name that new profile the group moderator, then delete the old profile.  That might briefly violate terms of service by having 2 profiles, but the intent is not to fool anyone and it would  be brief, possibly just minutes, of overlap.

Daniel, I don't think you can take that kind of action without at least moderator if not webmaster status, and none of us have that.  You might ask Brother Richard about it, but I doubt he has the time to handle something like that, and he's yet to put any of us in any kind of supervisory position.

Honestly, I still think that A|N needs some manner of moderation, yet we haven't had any for more years than I care to count.  Whether Richard would countenance such a change, I do not know.

I have been on Atheist Nexus for 9 years. I would like to clean up my presence here, by removing unused groups that I started. There are about 10 groups. Some have had no comments in many years.  I don't want responsibility to moderate them, or to review old posts for possible risky (such as potentially not compliant with fair use) materials.  I have changed the names of several to "Unused Group #1" "Unused Group #2" etc, removed all of the comments, members, and posts, and made the icon into a blank screen. Is it possible to remove them completely?

I also want to remove all of my old posts. However, I see that I have more than 4000 posts, going back to 2008. Is it possible to blanket - remove all of them?

I am forming a new group and clicked the "use my own photo from my computer" and the photo from "Use the existing photo" it placed a whole body image.

How do I get rid of the present image?

How do I install image from my computer?
