Hello everyone, I have been an atheist for about 5 years now, I stay with my parents when I come home from school, so I go to church when I'm not at Uni :), I torture myself but it is a cross I guess I have to bear. I have only told 1 or 2 people that I trust that I'm an atheist it brought about a lot of discussion but ultimately was a bad idea.  So here I am hiding in the closet and posting on the internet like you guys.

Hi, I was already a member but I had to delete and recreate my profile... so here I am again!

@ William I wonder the same thing about Faux news and xtians.  I find that network, in particular, very devisive and fear inducing.

Hey guys, wow it's been awhile since someone posted.  Anyway yeah as implied I'm in the closet about being an atheist.  Most of my family is religious (you know "christian nation") but my nephews and a sister are almost as "bad" as I am.

I think one funny experience was when my parents were watching fox "news" and they were commenting on charities and actually said "yeah atheists never contribute to charity."  Of course the source is the "funny" part.  So question for everyone.  Why is it that most christians watch fox?

This is a great networking site for us (especially those of us still in the closet!)  I'll add you to my friends!  Welcome!

Hello fellow closeted atheists! I've been an atheist for a while now but have only "come out" to my wife, a Christian. I'm sure a few other people suspect, but since all or most of my family, friends, and co-workers are believers of one flavor of religion or another, I avoid the topic when I can in person.

Thank goodness (and not god) for the Internet, where I can read about atheist/freethought/skeptical things and interact with people like me who aren't completely crazy. Well, at least as far as religion is concerned!

I heard about Atheist Nexus in a podcast a while back and just joined not that long ago. I look forward to meeting new people and am glad there are groups like this one on Atheist Nexus for people who are still not open about their atheism.

This is group is exactly why I seeked this site out! I am 31 and only my husband, daughter, and closet "open-minded" friend knows about my atheism. Still have yet to have meet anyone in my area that is like me. :) Glad y'all are here!

This group is why I joined this website. I am still a dependent of my parents, who are devout Catholics, and it will cause much tension in my family if I'm found out. It will be some time before I can support myself, but until then I have my supportive friends and this site.

Boy, do I belong here. I am the only non-Christian in my HUGE family of 30-something first cousins, 18 aunts/uncles, one grandparent - all uber Christian. No way in hell (ha) I'm coming out. The closet may be dark, but it's safe in here!

I married into a hardcore Christian family, so husband and I are undercover because if they found out all they would do is whine in our ear about how we'll go to hell if we don't repent. To us, being undercover is better than that.
