Ellery Schempp will be visiting schools in DC and Virginia from March 28th to April 6th, 2009...more details to come! Ellery Schempp was the primary student involved in the landmark 1963 Supreme Court Case of Abington School District v. Schempp which declared public school-sanction Bible reading unconstitutional.

I'm organizer of the Fun Loving Atheists of Northern Virginia meetup group. All atheists in this group are invited to Cosi across from the Ballston Metro Station at 2pm this Sunday. This is in Arlington, Va.

Greetings! I've joined the site partially because i usually don't know that i've met an atheist in real life until well into the acquaintanceship, and partially to throw in my support for the cause. I'm based in Blacksburg for another year and a half, and would enjoy happening across some sociable nontheists.

Eh, I'm from MD, but I'm going to graduate school at Hollins U. in Roanoke. I like it except for the noticeable increase in fundies, though still not as bad as Lynchburg, where I went for undergrad...*shudders*

I have a question. I joined this group to find out. Is it centralized, or decentralized like MySpace. In other words is there one person in control that can boot you from the whole group you've joined? Or is it like MySpace where it is just a matter of deleting yourself off someone's friends list and all you lose is that one person, and still have the whole of your friends list?
