There are many ways to promote atheism and freethought. Some are in your face, others are subtle.
I would like to share some good news with the group.
A few years ago I wrote a book about bullying. "The Prize: a novel about bullies and victims..." This book, while a good read for adults mainly targets teens and educators. There is a subtle character, an atheist boy, his name is Sam. Sam, in his way steals the show at the end of the book. No fireworks, just a subtle jab at religions unhelpful answers to the bully problems in our schools.

Now here is the good news. I just got an order for 150 copies of "The Prize" from a school system in Oklahoma. I came out of the blue as I have not been doing much promotion lately.
The school is doing a year long project on bullying. Three English teacher have copies of "The Prize" and have read it. They requested the 150 copies for their High School English course for Juniors.

So, you never know when the opportunity to promote freethought, subtle or in your face, will present itself.

In your face is fine, but subtle is okay too. Don't Ya Think?

They are probably more active because this is the only life we have.

I live in Brookfield WI. the former home of the now notorious John Birch Society.
Currently, on my street my next door neighbors, my across the street neighbors and my two doors down neighbors , all atheists, my next door very christian neighbors.

My very christian neighbors are fine people and good neighbors.

However my atheist neighbors are live and let live types. They are not looking for any conflicts, nor are my christian neighbors. We all get along just fine, thank you.

What I do not understand is why are my atheist neighbors more active in politics????

They are very old, or young with families to raise.

They are either too old to participate or too busy to participate.

Even religious people ought to be concerned about civil liberties. After all the separation between religion and government ought to be of concern to all of us.

Just some thoughts.

Best, M
