Haha, definitely close enough to count.

Is there much of an organized atheist community in Franklin? I've been in NC for 5 yrs. now and still haven't met other free thinkers (well, there is my husband... ). I'm surrounded by mostly xtians. I'm beginning to get desperate here! Thought about starting a meetup group but when I'm not busy I'm too lazy to keep something like that going.

Online atheist groups help keep me sane, so here I am again after wandering away a few years ago.

I guess it's just a case of the atheists and herding cats thing.

Thanks for popping in - glad I wasn't just talking to myself here.

I am still kicking but I live in Franklin. Is that close enough to count?

Hey WNC Atheists - anyone still kicking out there? It'd be great if we could do something about the echo I'm hearing in this group! Anyone else live in Black Mountain?

I am in Hayesville. I have one more year of college before I can leave.

Where are you, Michael? Maybe you'd better move. Sounds like conceptual hell.

Hello everyone. I recently found out about atheist nexus from various podcasts. I am deep in the trenches of the bible belt in the far western region of North Carolina. I have a close group of friends that are all christian right wing nutters. Thankfully they have gotten over the fact that I am an atheist/humanist and they try not to proselytize me. For various reasons I cannot let the Christ zombies know what I think. My non-belief would jeopardize the livelihood of family and friends. It is good to see that I am not the only "evil agent of the devil" in this part of the country.
