Young Atheists

A group for young atheists, any ages from 0-20 welcome! People love to underestimate young people, especially minors who can't vote, but we are a powerful group...we are not alone.

Welcome young atheists! This group is geared towards students, be they in college, high school, middle school, or elementary school, all are welcome, including those who are still young but not in school.

We're a powerful group that is often ignored or treated as if we are worthless. Older folks love to tell us that we aren't responsible, that we aren't intelligent, that we aren't as important. WE ARE. We can help strengthen atheism and weaken the religious establishments.

This group however is geared not towards angry rebellion ;) but discussion between young atheists. We can reach out to the very young group (middle school/elementary) while strengthening ourselves.

I'm loving all the ex-Catholics in this group. Atheism really is the classic culmination of a Catholic education (coupled with some good Bible knowledge!)

I was born in raised in Texas, Houston to be exact. Our family wasn't religious and we never went to church but my parents signed me up for a christian preschool. This influenced my thoughts fro the next 10 years but due to me not going to church or religious functions and the majority of my friends not religious i came out ok.
Ive only so far informed my dad of my atheism but i can tell my family dosent really care for religion or non religion so ill leave it at that. Looking forward to bludgeoning you from long distances in the near future.

I find it funny that this is the same guy who started the militant atheist group. I lend my support to this group.

Nice to join this group
Well, I was raised a catholic and I'm still living with my parents.
I've tried to come out to them but my first approach didn't work.
Maybe I'll only do it when I'm out of their house...
Or maybe doing it might get me out sooner...

I agree

<3 philosophy and science. It feels better to believe in something that makes sense!

I go to a Catholic school and you'd actually be surprised how many people are atheists/agnostics but are still in the closet or just aren't too vocal.

I just want to introduce myself. I'm Chris. Hey guys. I grew up Catholic and was very dogmatic. When I started getting into theoretical physics and then philosophy things went down hill lol. I then looked at mythological symbols and pagan symbols and then all into New Testament studies.

I love debating with theists, I thinks it's mad fun. I actually got told once that the day would come and I would be judged and I'd burn. I was pretty stoked lol.

Hello, thought I'd join. I grew up in an atheist family, so I'm an open atheist even if I'm not outspoken about it.

I've spent the last 3 years debating creationists online (in defence of science, not because I have anything personal against religon) and I've learned more biology, cosmology and general -ology than is healthy for a 19 year old with no formal education.

Fight the pseudoscience, I say.

Good to meet so many fellow freethinkers!

Hello, out and happy teenager here! It wasn't an easy journey, though...I came out a year ago and it caused a significant rift between me and my family. (As I've blogged about.) I'm doing well now, though, and I'm always available to discuss whatever, whenever. :D
