Spud: Super!! Whatever you're doing must be working for you. Not that I need to lose weight, but I occassionally fast. It's mostly to get rid of a little extra mid-section and to combat my sugar "addiction". I think by not eating breakfast every now and then helps. And, according to Dr. Mercola (and that TV show you and I watched), intermittant fasting is the way to lose fat and be healthier. Google him and read his article(s) on it. I am also doing his recommended "high intensity training" workouts. I love 'em!

Randall, from what I've heard, many small meals are better than a few large ones.  Personally, I can definitely tell my body does not like large meals.  It responds with acid reflux, sleeping problems, and abdominal pain.  

It seems everyone says do not skip breakfast, but I don't notice any negatives when I do that, which is often.

I haven't heard of any studies about fasting, but I've started doing it after I saw a TV show on it.  They concluded that it helps take-off fat.  

They said there are two ways to do it.  One is to eat all you want one day, and eat nothing the next day.  The second is to eat one or two small meals in the morning, then nothing the rest of the day.  

That's the one that I use, and I've lost 40 pounds since I started 8 months ago.  It helped that I was doing lots of strenuous work during the spring and summer, but I'm still loosing a little weight this winter with almost no strenuous work.

"Intermittent fasting" may have benefits similar to caloric restriction without making people super-hungry or super-thin.

But there is also lots of research supporting the benefit of eating your breakfast, etc. 

What those opposite kinds of evidence add up to, I don't know.

Is fasting a good or bad thing? What's the latest on eating 6 small meals a day vs. 2 decent ones--skipping breakfast althogether?

I seem to be hungry all the time! If I don't something to keep me occupied during the day, that's all I'd do--and gain 100 lbs! It's the evening that gives me the most trouble, even after a big meal. I forget the brain chemical that causes this. But romaine hearts? Ugh.

One way to lose weight is to only eat when you're physically hungry.  If you just crave something to eat, you can eat something bulky with almost no calories, like a head of lettuce.  I find those packs of romaine hearts work well as munchies.

Steph: That would be nice to link me up with Health and Fitness, although i could probably do it myself--maybe!

Craig: I know what you mean by too much fruit fructose. I have fruit trees and find it hard to avoid nibbling away at pears and now persimmons--very sweet! Do you have space for a small garden?
