I certainly didn't mean to offend anyone. I realize I can be outspoken and intolerant at times. I'm just telling it like it is (69% of us being overweight, according to Ruth's info). And since I've never had a weight problem, it's hard for me to empathize.

(After estimating your size / body type, it asks for your height and weight, using sliders. You can tell it's a British site: weight shows up in stones and pounds in addition to kilograms. For us Yanks: a stone is 14 pounds. Or it might be easier to multiply pounds by 2.2 to get kilograms.)

well I feel like I'm overeating a lot of the time.  But I have been riding my bike around a lot.  If I gain a little weight, it soon goes away.

I'm obese, Randall. It is upsetting to not be able to control one's weight. I've been on a strict low carb diet (for diabetes) for a decade and a half and lost no weight. I do use the gym, too.

Ruth's cartoon of the "evolution" of man into a pig (scroll down) is spot on. I was watching the news last night and couldn't believe all the obese people interviewed and seen in the background. I gotta believe 80% of Americans are overweight. It grosses me out and admit to my prejudice. No offense to anyone.

Here we go again. On my recent visit to the Dr., I was told I could stand to gain weight (BMI is 19). Of course, the Dr. is overweight. To that advice I gave a resounding NO! I'm actually still trying to lose weight! It's not an obsession as my sister contends. I just see the mid-section bulge and protruding stomach. That tells me I have excess fat in the wrong place (the usual place). I'm healthy, energetic, happy, and comfortable in my skin. So my doctor can go jump in a lake.

Somehow, Ruth, my body (stomach and brain) won't permit me to "make-up" for a skipped meal. It seems to know when I've had enough to eat. Plus, I'm careful I don't overdo it.
