I don't know the average age a Honduran dies, but their diet must be a factor. However delicious their food is, it's heavy on all the wrong things--grains (rice, corn, wheat) and legumes (beans). And boy do they have a sweet tooth! Not only rich breads and desserts, but they're addicted to colas. Coke and Pepsi are ubiquitous. Little wonder my son-in-law weighs 300 lbs and his 15 yr old daughter close to 200 lbs. Sad. At least my daughter remains thin.
No, as my late mum in law used to say, aging ain't for sissies.
Also, sorry I got the wrong organ. At my age, each organ seems to make its existence known! If it isn't heart, it's a lung infection, or blocked bowel, or problems with sugar, or gluten. Ageing isn't for the weak!
Just the ingredients alone make me leery about the claims for wonderful results.
Patricia, can you give me some rationale for "Lectin.....& I'd run the other way!"?
Not my liver Joan....its my kidney function.
Thankfully we didn't have that dr for long, 18 months, & we're sure he never looked at our records after transferring them from our retired dr, who had been watching my kidney function for years. It was still normal, although a little on the low side, but nothing to worry about......until I took stuff prescribed for hip pain that I shouldn't have. How was I to know? They are the ones who we're supposed to trust!
We didn't like him from day one, although we tried. As soon as I saw the write ups last spring online about him while he was still in Ireland, I got transferring to another dr in the works, & we made the change in July.
It wasn't until my hip pre-op in October that the kidney thing was discovered from previous blood tests....& I was never told. That's when the questioning came up about what I had taken med wise.
I have blabbed about this to every medical person I've seen since, & they can do with it what they will, I don't have the energy. He has since moved out of Williams Lake.
We have a dr now who is much more cautious!
I just looked at the ingredient list on that Lectin.....& I'd run the other way!
Patricia, your report of the mistreatment caused by your doctor outrages me. I would be going to the licensing board with a report of what he prescribed and its consequence to your liver problems or his Rx created more complex problems.
That said, I agree that we are what we eat. Just because something is called, "natural" doesn't mean it is healthy for human consumption or for some individuals with particular problems. According to this team of authors, they list these foods; do you agree with them?

My son is a physically active, nutritionally conscious person and he recommends GUNDRY MD LECTIN SHIELD.
His wife, Mindy, is a personal trainer and works with or for the Denver Athletic Club and has her private clients. She recommends GUNDRY MD LECTIN SHIELD.
I am skeptical. What say you?
I eat what my innards allow me to eat, & if its not on the permissible lists, then tough.
I am however making adjustments if I do have to do a kidney diet......which seems quite likely now.
Appreciate the comments (as always). One of the "dumb recommendations" was "no alcohol", not even a glass of wine--nary a drop. And no cheese (or crackers or nuts) to go with it? Geez Louise. No dark chocolate?
However, the book was meant for those people suffering from debilitating health issues. I think that excludes most of us--thankfully (not "thank god").
