Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

The myth of religions

Started by Joan Denoo. Last reply by Joan Denoo Feb 16. 3 Replies

The creation myth of civilizations instructs men to dominate, to conquer, to go forth and multiply. No reasonable person would pay attention to such a god. No hunter-gatherer receives such a senseless message from wise elders. However, that idea…Continue

10 Tricks from 46 (Betty Bowers)

Apparently, Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, has been slumming.  That is to say, she's been talking to Mike Pence [gasp!].  It would seem as though Mike has offered some of his not-so-personal tricks of the trade on how to be a 21st century…Continue

Have a successful operation, Patrica.

Randall, I get upset when schools are underfunded.  It's such a easy, no-brainer investment for the future of everyone in the community.  Hope you enjoyed your time in the limelight in 2nd grade.  BTW, yesterday was also National Coffee Day.

I hope your operation goes well, Patricia. One of my family in England had his done one at a time with a couple of weeks in between and that worked out fine. He did walk lopsided in the interval and had to use a walking stick but there were no serious problems.

Yes, AN notifications can be very slow. Perhaps the rest of the IT world has moved on a little faster.

Agreed, GC.  It can take up to 40+ seconds for something to post when the system is badly lagged.  Clicking twice might result in a double-post, so that's something to be aware of while this is going on.

Comment by Grinning Cat on September 30, 2017 at 9:38am

(And it's still working that way: I clicked "Add Comment" and it sat there, but after copying my comment to the clipboard (just in case) and reloading the page, my comment did get posted.)

At my end, the "Add Comment", "Add Reply", etc. buttons seem to be working silently. If A|N hangs after you post something, check in another tab or window -- the posting might have succeeded.

BTW, for all concerned, I've seen the sluggishness in A|N responding to creating posts and comments and have contacted Brother Richard about it.  As soon as he gets back to me, you'll be the first.

Here's to a safe and successful procedure for you, Patricia ... and a BIG HUG to go along with it!  [grin!]

They can't miss noticing that both your hips need replacing, Patricia - they must see that you can't even revalidate from the operation while your other hip is as bad. So they'd better come up with a good solution!

Yesterday was "Grandparents Day" at my grandson's school. He's in the 2nd grade. I had to share him with my ex-wife (divorced nearly 30 years ago). No big deal.
The school building is 60 years old and in dire need of being updated--or rebuilt. Taxpayers continually vote down new monies (not I). The district is in farm country where land owners (farmers) would be heavily taxed based on acreage.
I'm wondering how much longer the school can hang on.

Thanks Spud.

Its just the one in the works now because the other one went while I was waiting so long, & it isn't even on the surgeon's radar yet......*sigh*.......
