Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Deep Field: The Impossible Magnitude of Our Universe (Eric Whitacre)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Tom Sarbeck yesterday. 10 Replies

We've all heard about the Deep Field observations of the Hubble Space Telescope, how, almost on a whim, the device was aimed at what was thought to be an empty, unoccupied section of sky and a long time exposure was taken.  What they discovered was…Continue

Is this some sort of collective insanity or a cruel mocking of grieving families? Surely some kind of protest is called for.

I looked up 'AR-15' online and the original version sold to the public was a sporting/hunting rifle with a 5-round magazine which was suitable for ranges or out in the woods. Manufacturers have obviously seen money to be made in producing 30-round clips for the paranoid, trigger-happy 'macho' men. Profit is more important than lives, obviously.

They should start by shooting each other so they can be heaven bound right away!

So the next school shooting might be with a blessed gun - a ticket to heaven?

To answer Ian's question:

Honduras, especially the capital, Tegucigalpa, is a pig sty. People more than "litter"-- they dump. Garbage of all kinds line the streets. The huts they live in are deplorable. Men urinate out in the open. The streets and traffic are nightmarish.

Outside of Teguc, it's not much better. Only the scenery is nicer. Why my daughter and husband enjoy living there is a mystery to me. They just have the compassion and faith to help the needy. To me, it's a spit in the ocean.

I understand the president (Hernandez) is trying to do something, but the present culture prevents a total makeover. It's quite sad and depressing.

I have heard nobody say anything positive about Windows 8 or 8.1!

Comment by Loren Miller on February 20, 2018 at 3:34pm

I'm running Windows 10, but I have to believe it will run on other platforms.  In fact, I just checked and Cliqz says it'll run on Windows 7 and 8 ... though WHY would you want to run Win8??? [grin!]
