Politics, Economics, and Religion

Religion has so many connections to political and economic beliefs, there needs to be a place to identify linkages, problems, goals, options, action plans and evaluation criteria.

What is the purpose of life?

An eternal question, what is the purpose of life?, occupied philosophers’ thoughts throughout history. Stone pictographs reveal even primitive peoples reflected on this query. Each one has the capacity to define his or her personal thinking about politics, economics and religion.

On religions teaching people to accept inconsistencies and logical fallacies, and the consequences for politics and society:

"Do you really think that “bad actors” would pass up such a golden opportunity to garner the support of millions of people who tend to move as a unit?

It’s like shooting fish in a barrel. What you’ve got here are large groups of people who have been conditioned to do as they are told, and on top of that they’ve been desensitized to logical inconsistencies so that they will never even notice (or care) if you don’t follow through with your promises...

Ultimately I believe that liberty is an essential element to human thriving. When an environment militates against free thinking and free choice, I cannot help but feel it is counterproductive...

If you can convince people things don’t have to make sense, you can make them believe virtually anything you want. And I’m not going to be okay with that."

I agree that the Sinclair takeover of local TV stations is extremely dangerous, Joan.

Re the Sinclair-mandated script:

Joan, thanks for the link to the entire script. It was much longer and more balanced than the few words reported by MSNBC.

About responses evaporating...

On my iPads, I avoid losses (due to my not paying attention to where an idle fingertip touches the screen) by doing a SELECT ALL and a COPY at intervals and before I add a comment.
