Politics, Economics, and Religion

Religion has so many connections to political and economic beliefs, there needs to be a place to identify linkages, problems, goals, options, action plans and evaluation criteria.

What is the purpose of life?

An eternal question, what is the purpose of life?, occupied philosophers’ thoughts throughout history. Stone pictographs reveal even primitive peoples reflected on this query. Each one has the capacity to define his or her personal thinking about politics, economics and religion.

There's a photograph that goes with it, of a white-haired lady holding a pistol...I left it out to save room.  Do you want me to post it in here?

The one that makes me laugh is an old shot of Betty White firing a gun at someone off-camera.  Don't know what show it's from, but I love the stuff she's done that's so against type.

sk8eycat, That is a jewel! And so true. Having worked in a prison I know it is not all that great, but given the alternatives for older women with such poor retirement plans, this makes great sense. I'm going to repost it on Facebook. Thanks.

I posted this "joke" in "Hang With Friends," but I think it belongs here, too.  It especially applies to women because for so long we have been paid less than men doing the same work, and the less one is paid the less one pays into Social InSecurity (in the USA), and the less you get when you retire.  should you become widowed, your "benefits" are reduced, and if you should be lucky enough to remarry, they're cut even more. No wonder so many couples my age just live together...and are happy that way.  So:

New Medicare Program

You're a sick senior citizen and the government says there is no nursing home available for you. So what do you do?

Our plan gives anyone 65 years or older a gun and 4 bullets. You are allowed to shoot four Politicians.

Of course, this means you will be sent to prison where you will get three meals a day, a roof over your head, central heating, air conditioning and all the health care you need!
Need new teeth? No problem. Need glasses? That’s great. Need a new hip, knees, kidney, lungs or heart? They’re all covered.
As an added bonus, your kids can come and visit you as often as they do now.

And who will be paying for all of this? It’s the same government that just told you that you they cannot afford for you to go into a home.

Plus,  because you are a prisoner, you don't have to pay any income taxes anymore.

Is this a great country or what?
