Must putrefaction’s breath

Leave nothing of this heavenly sight

But loathsomeness and ruin?

On Asimov's excellent op-ed:
After Pres. Reagan invited the religious right into the GOP, their obedient ignorance had bloomed, and in the late 1980s he'd written his op-ed, what would he have said?

Re Congresswoman Barbara Jordan's, "It is reason, and not passion, which must guide our deliberations, guide our debate, and guide our decision".

Bribery plays no part, or does reason determine the amount of the bribe?

In my humble opinion upon death, the electrical system turns off, the heart stops pumping, blood stops flowing, organs begin to deteriorate and go to dust or ash. Flesh, bone, and blood return to their basic elements and nothing remains but memories. No heaven or hell, no afterlife, no reincarnation. Our atoms change form and become the stuff of stars. One day our planet and sun will end and our elements become part of other elements in the universe. There is no soul so there is no place for which to go.
So, who you are remains as others remember you.

You did have to go and trigger me, didn't you, Daniel?  [grin!]

Always listen to experts.  They'll tell you what can't be done, and why.  Then do it.

Nice, Loren.  Thanks!

Everything ought to be turned upside down occasionally; it lets in air and light.
-- Robert A. Heinlein, The Star Beast

To find yourself, think for yourself.
-- Socrates

Some may find that, in doing the second, they accomplish the first as well, but it usually works out okay ... usually.

Loren, then we have to do it for them.

Sadly, Daniel, I doubt the GOP is much interested in reason these days.
