"The Gods of Mars" by Edgar Rice Burroughs

Started by Edward Teach. Last reply by Sky God Aug 24, 2014. 3 Replies

Burroughs wrote the original Tarzan books. The God's of Mars is the second in a series. It is a beautiful metaphor for religious absurdity. Not to give too much away, but Mars is depicted as a planet with multiple races, each having its own…Continue

My first exposure to Richard Matheson was probably back in the early 60s, and that marvelous anthology series, Rod Serling’s The Twilight Zone.  Matheson told amazing stories … of a man recovering from a nervous breakdown and what he thought he saw…Continue

Steph, would it be a good thing for me to write a review of the recent books I have read in the genres?. If so, do you have a thread for doing  this in?. I can't find anything of the sort.

I am having trouble working out how this particular site goes about things, to be prefectly honest, I find the interface vastly confusing.

I sat in the sunroom and re-read a Georgette Heyer novel, mainly because I wanted some gentle laughs. She has few matches for kindly humour and gentility.

In New Zealand traditional observence of Labour day, we scrupulously avoid labour if at all possible. We take our public holiday obligations almost ( dare I say it ) religiously.

I'm working on my next project "The Dark Circle Saga." It's a four part novel series that continues the story started in "The Catacomb Dungeon."

It's not my best work but I do expect a pretty high grade from it. I am very out of place when writing non-fiction.

Thanks, I do have it in pdf form. I'll start a discussion for it if anybody is interested in reading it.

I would be willing to post it on here but I'm not sure about length restrictions. My paper was four pages long. It really should have been longer but I had difficulty molding my thoughts around the research.

This has nothing to do with science fiction or fantasy but I finally finished writing my research paper for college. The subject was the discrimination of atheists in the south. It wasn't an easy paper to write but it opened my eyes to how much more difficult it is for us than what I previously had thought.

Thank you Steph, I'm really glad you like it.

So far, two.  "The Avengers" was great fun, but the 3-D was uneven and I would rather have seen it in traditional 2-D.  Men In Black 3 is, without doubt, THE BEST of the three movies ... but again, the 3-D gets in the way.

See 'em both in 2-D and you really won't miss much ... but you WILL catch two damned fun and exciting pix.

Thank you, I do believe I'm going to enjoy it here.
