Solar Technology

Fossil fuel are any combustible organic material, as oil, coal, or natural gas, derived from the remains of former life. We reached the tipping point with these fuels getting harder to access and more expensive.
These will have to be replaced, and what better than solar energy?

It makes no difference as to the energy being produced, but I think it's important to educate yourself and learn eco-friendly behaviour.

Plinius,  I don't understand.  If I am using solar panels, what difference does it make if I use all the electricity being produced?

Comment by Plinius on February 14, 2016 at 12:38am

I mentioned it because of research of people in their new eco-friendly housing: it came out that many of them thought that they needn't be careful any more about heating and hot water, etc.

That was NOT true! Those people used as much energy as when they lived in old houses.

Ronald, welcome to this group. Do you like to be referred to as Ronald or ? I look forward to your perspective and comments.

Carl and Ruth, very nice to see you join this group. We can let our imaginations go!

Larry, it seems as though you are an experienced fisherman. I look forward to your ideas.

Ceil, welcome to you coming to us from Vermont; your comment, "live and let live" is a nice idea and I hope our nation can develop some of that thinking. We have had some tough times as non-believers.

BIPLAB DAS, I am happy to see our group has a member from India. We need a world perspective. How do you want us to call you?

I like your response, Chris, "monitor your own behaviour".

Never forget to monitor your own behaviour - we need the new technology sorely but we also need to want less. Especially less things that use energy. Ask yourself when shopping: "Do I really need it? How often am I going to use it? What is this object going to do for me? Is there another way to get the work done?" Fill in your own questions... you'll buy less, have a bigger piggy bank and feel better.

John Jubinsky, happy to see you join this group. You bring so many interesting topics to the attention of Atheist Nexus members; I am excited to see what you find on Solar Energy to share with us!

Steph, I'm glad you join us, and even with your busy schedule, I anticipate you will find interesting articles. I am especially interested in how solar and bird populations get along.

Chris, Ted, and Kelly, happy to see you join this site. Research activity happens so fast in this field, new information arrives almost daily. I have a Google Alert for Solar Technology and it offers fascinating reading. We should never run out of information to share.

Donald, Yes, indeed! Humans are working on solutions to the energy situation. The research is exciting. The ideas boggle my mind. The creative, exploratory, experimenting minds work hard and citizens need to support such efforts. Some will fail, some will succeed. I am excited to be alive to see this happen.

I remember horse power on the farm. Just imagine what my great-grandchildren will see!

Thank you for letting me know the link didn't work.
