Taken backstage by a little old man who came around every year to take photos of all of us.

I loved being on the ice - and goofing around in the audience - in this costume. There's something very liberating about being in a spotlight and totally anonymous at the same time.

I wanted to keep that costume, but that was impossible.  HOI recycled everything.  They had 3 units touring the US at that time, and the #2 unit always did the previous year's show from the #1 unit, and so on down the line.
