The point in making it was that people wish to decry evolution for the theory that details it, but make no such attempt to decry any other theories that are perfectly valid. It's a bit absurdist, but I think I am making a good point with it. I don't truly think people who claim that the theory of evolution is untrue or invalid really understand what a theory means to science, nor that they pay any attention to other scientific theories that are used daily in their lives. I chose stress theory because it is involved in nearly every aspect of our daily lives, such as for the construction of bridges and buildings. Just like the enginering requires the calculation of stress on specific materials, evolutionary biologists calculate the environmental effects on the changing organism in question. If the metaphor is imbalanced, I do apologize.I'm glad it was enjoyable for you, that's the goal when I make these.
Your main character above appears to be protesting at a suspension bridge, which uses calculated stresses (or forces, if you will) to counterbalance against gravity and support considerable loads in addition to the structure's own weight. Strength of materials is very much a part of structural engineering theory, as it comes to that.
He might just as well protest at a hospital against the germ theory of disease or at a semiconductor fab against solid state physics theory or at a plant that makes GPS hardware, where he could get upset about general relativity theory.
Regardless, the character is laughable. The artwork is pretty good ... though, keep in mind, that's coming from a guy (me!) who needs a ruler to draw a straight line!
How do you mean, Loren?
Hmm, stress as in strength of materials? Not so much....
