Yes, I agree. Love the Puritanism definition.  ;-)

H.L. Mencken. One of my favorites. I've always liked his definition of Puritanism. When used by me, I generally substitute the word "religion" for "Puritanism."

Puritanism - The haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy.

Like I said don't know a lot of Heinlein. A few of quotes, but I'm not an expert.

“Mistakes are the only certain way to learn.”

“You know I would never draw against you.

“I know no such thing,” he said querulously. “There’s always that first time. Scoundrels are predictable, but you’re a man of honor and that frightens me.”

Do yourself a favor - read MORE.  The "logic" he's referring to in your quote is that of those who want to deal in limited terms, or terms circumscribed by the person's own self-perceived limitations.  Robert Heinlein regularly indicated in his writing that he thought very little was impossible and that was reflected in a great many of his novels, about 90% of which I've read.

Always listen to experts.  They'll tell you what can't be done, and why.  Then do it.

Don't know a lot of Heinlein.  I looked this up on him.

knew, logically, that everything that had happened since I read that silly ad had been impossible.

So I chucked logic.

Logic is a feeble reed, friend. “Logic” proved that airplanes can’t fly and that  won’t work and that stones don’t fall out of the sky. Logic is a way of saying that anything which didn’t happen yesterday won’t happen tomorrow.
