It's challenging to know what to say. Net time they're in a car wreck, tell the ambulance to take them to church. Or when they get that cancer diagnosis, or to treat their diabetes, or when they have the stroke or heart attack, or gonorrhea. Actually, with antibiotic resistance, soon prayer might work as well for gonorrhea as antibiotics do, but that's a different comment thread.
The last I looked, no deity was wearing scrubs and caring for dozens of patients during a ridiculously long work shift, keeping track of protocols and prescription orders and new, incoming cases while trying to deal as much with the human being as with the disease or disorder or problem with which that person is afflicted.
