L&L Paradise Acres Greenhouse June 11, 2017

Photos of different beds and plants. We have fresh green salad every night for the past couple of weeks. I forgot to plant radishes, the tomatoes haven't developed yet, they and the beans have blossoms.

Glad to hear you use it so much.

Spud, I know! The greenhouse is about 1/8th the size of my Spokane home, it can be used only about 8 months of the year because we can't get it warm enough, and the water tank takes up a considerable portion of the space. Out of the greenhouse, we get about 5 or 6 months of vegetables and gain another 2 months for starting seeds with help from extra heating sources. In my home, I was able to raise 3 kids to adulthood,  I also was able to care for my father for the last 7 years of his life, and I had a home for 42 years.

Does a greenhouse of this price make any economic sense? No! We don't know how many years I will be able to use it, no one in the family seems to have any interest in learning how to use it, and we don't know if it will add any value to the property when/if L&L sell.

We tried keeping it going through the winter, but the solar cells didn't generate enough energy, and electricity, or propane are too expensive to warrant the expence.  We didn't try a rocket stove.

So, would L&L purchase it knowing what we know now? No!

Are we glad we have it? Yes!

Do I use it? Yes, every day I can get out there, even if I have to bundle up, I tend to my greenhouse. I harvest fresh vegetables that the three of us eat daily and we have enough to share with my 2 granddaughters' families occasionally.

I have no idea how the greenhouse would work at lower elevations and latitudes. Colorado has a lot more winter sunlight than far northern Washington state. We live at 2,000 feet elevation and 48 degrees north.

Nice greenhouses.  The largest one they sell is as large as my house and costs 5 times what my house did.

Sorry, it took me so long to read your request, Daniel.

Laura and Larry had this built for me. We chose the 15-foot version that is said to be big enough to feed two or three people.

Yes, Spud, everything but the water for the tank, the soil in the beds, and the gravel for the walkways came in a big crate.

Did the lumber for the raised beds come with the greenhouse?
