Interesting way to close a letter to Madalyn O'Hair. (bless you?)
Kevin, I Just returned from a week in Jamaica. Before leaving I did a search on my dad in the Toronto Star archives because of a 1980 article the Star did on him for his "Love a Province Day" idea for the February holiday. Couldn't find the article but I found about twenty letters to the editor dating back to 1969. I mentioned to you at our meeting I've fired off a few missives to that paper in honor of my dad's spirit and had them published.
Looks like I still have some catching up to do.
Thanks for sharing this, Russel. Looking forward to catching up again.
Wow, you have a real treasure there. Thanks for sharing that. Unfortunately, that trust in all atheists did eventually get her murdered by one she trusted. Greed in money overrides trust.
Being in the reason rally crowd, I felt the trust of all us atheists. I felt comfortable there. But there is always the possibility of an bad apple or wolf in the fold.
Her kidnapping and murder along with her son and grand daughter were horrific crimes that Texas and their law enforcement really didn't give a shit about.
I discovered this in a box of my dad's papers after returning from the Reason Rally. He passed away in 1994. Never knew he had corresponded with Madalyn. She called him Al - he had put A. L. which stands for Arthur Leslie. I was surprised to see a lot of his long half page letters published in the local Oakville papers. He was fighting a war against the Halton Renaissance Committee - nice sounding name but a backward pushing Christian group that wanted to ban books etc.
