You have it precisely, Joan. I've said it many times: the weight is on US. Expecting something that doesn't exist to help us is effectively waiting for Godot ... and let us not forget that Godot never showed up.
There is power in not expecting god to answer questions or solve problems, or even reveal himself. The good news is that there never was a god except for the ones we imagine in our thoughts. Prayers exist as self-talk, often resulting in finding the answers and solutions as we mutter words to empty space.
