Wow.  That's one hell of a Dad.  I'm sure you miss him dearly.

Heehee - my crazy idea. Very glad that by this point Dad had stopped arguing that the photo could never be done and simply put all trust and faith in me. "Ok Dad, hold all of these in this hand, let me drape these other ones over you, oh and grit this one in your teeth and look tough... beautiful!"

I love it that he's holding a medal in his teeth.

Anyway, it had been my vision for many, many years to get a photo of him wearing/surrounded by/buried in all his medals and ribbons. He and others kept telling me, "It can't be done - too many of them." It took me 5 days and help from nieces to sort out the awards and set up the shot, but I got it!!!

This is my now late father, Spring of '08. The star athlete in high school, he started doing senior olympics (all swimming and diving) and Master's swim competitions at age 55. By his mid-80's (when the photo was taken) he'd amassed close to 1,000 medals and ribbons. Some for just being there but most are actual gold/silver/bronze for placing in the meets.

Best one: In his first national meet he bitched that out of 8 events he swam/dove in, he only got 7 golds and 1 silver. The silver; he lost to a guy who in the 1936 real Olympics had won the gold in that same event. I think you can forgive yourself that one dad!
