I just stumble onto 'em, Ruth. Sometimes you get lucky!
You're in great form today! Where do you get these gems?
Ahhh, good ol' Hank! I ran onto him a couple years ago ... good stuff.
And as to being "born again," I think we all were born pretty well the first time. Why waste time with a do-over?!?
An elegantly and succinctly put "ha ha only serious" question, Loren!
And Pat, thanks for bringing up the promise of pie in the sky, by and by, when you die. It often leads people to acquiescing to getting $#!t during their (one, real) life. All wrongs will supposedly be righted afterwards, in a Secret, Magical Place. (And if you need the threat of subsequent reward or punishment to be "moral", you're really only acting out of basic self-interest.) But I'm preaching to the choir my fellow preachers, so to speak.... :)
I also do my bit to spread Jim Huber's parable "Kissing Hank's Ass".
I have not seen these postings before. I wonder how long A/N has been blocked from my site? Well, I surely don't want that. Great comments Loren and Pat.
Very true, Pat, which is why I said that the question AIN'T rhetorical. Thing is, these days, people are TAUGHT to be scared and indoctrinated into dependence on the myths of religion ... and it's time for those who do the teaching and indoctrination to be called to account.
Someone's got to bell the cat.
Because growing up means some damned frightening things. For example: 1) having to think and make decisions for yourself, 2) taking responsibility for your own actions without any vicarious forgiveness, 3) dealing with the realities which are the struggle of being alive, and 4) abandoning the idea that there is a Santa Clause for grownups who will give you pie in the sky, bye and bye.
