Andrew commented on Claire Donnelly's group LGBTQI atheists, nontheists, and friends
"Has trumpet really spoken out against the gay community? Someone please educate me. As far as gay supporters of the a-hole are concerned, it seems a shame to me for them to be shut out. It does seem to be one big area where LGBTQI folks of both…"

Andrew replied to tom sarbeck's discussion What Does Atheist Morality Require of Us?
"Religion is a false kind of "morality", if your definition of morality is, like mine, about love. I don't mean the kind of love that you feel toward spouse, significant other, family, and friends. I'm talking about genuine…"

Andrew replied to Ruth Anthony-Gardner's discussion L.A. Pride parade morphs into #ResistMarch in the group LGBTQI atheists, nontheists, and friends
"A close member of my family is gay, and I could not be more supportive of the LGBTQ movement. Last year she married the love of her life and I treasure the diversity that my family has gained as a result. Haters and religious nut jobs have been…"

Andrew replied to Joan Denoo's discussion Discovery Institute | Advancing a culture of purpose, creativity, and ...bla, bla, bla! in the group No Nonsense
"Joan, not to be overly discouraging, but I predict that most of your attempts at dialog will end in frustration since you're almost always trying to have a rational conversation with a nonrational nonthinking person whose mind cannot be changed…"

Andrew commented on Loren Miller's blog post Holy Books – All Things to All People
"Point taken. Theramin Trees, among many others, talks about the phenomenon of willful ignorance and the accompanying peer pressure that is promoted by the ignorant. As a teacher, I feel that exhorting others not to think for themselves has to be one…"

Andrew commented on Loren Miller's blog post Holy Books – All Things to All People
"Such is the character of the non- inquisitive mind. Critical, higher order thinking is neither wanted nor welcome. Xian hardliners would recoil at the suggestion that they and their counterparts in Islam are cut from the same cloth."

Andrew replied to Loren Miller's discussion Are We Monsters? (HuffPost – Neal Gabler) in the group Politics, Economics, and Religion
"We are currently living in a similar situation, with an elderly parent who was emotionally, verbally, and physically abusive; now all the resentment, hurt, and bad blood has bubbled up to the surface again. This person has never lived a day of her…"

Andrew replied to Loren Miller's discussion Are We Monsters? (HuffPost – Neal Gabler) in the group Politics, Economics, and Religion
"Bertold, I don't necessarily agree with Mr Reisch's statement. I think the hate was there all along and the ship of fools simply tapped into it as demagogues often do. I find this even more disturbing, to think that so many Americans are…"

Andrew replied to Loren Miller's discussion Are We Monsters? (HuffPost – Neal Gabler) in the group Politics, Economics, and Religion
"Personally, I don't think people have changed all that much, and the author is lacking context. There has always been cruelty, selfishness, and lack of empathy for others. There has also always been love, compassion, and mercy. People have…"

Andrew commented on Claire Donnelly's group LGBTQI atheists, nontheists, and friends
"I'm not a history scholar, but the only times I'm aware of religion being officially outlawed, it was done by repressive, totalitarian regimes, much to the detriment of religious practitioners or anyone else seen as being subversive or…"

Andrew commented on Claire Donnelly's group LGBTQI atheists, nontheists, and friends
"From my early childhood, I was inculcated into a fundamentalist xian church. By the time I was in my teens, I was pretty much in the full rebellion mode and totally eschewed the whole thing by adulthood. These people show their true colors when…"

Andrew commented on Claire Donnelly's group LGBTQI atheists, nontheists, and friends
"The big lie is that the persecutors claim to be the persecuted. It's an outrage that people are given a pass to discriminate by invoking their cockamamie bullshit religious beliefs. Adding insult to injury is that these entities are supported…"

Hi Andrew, I'm glad you found us!

There are LOTS of groups and forums to explore here. I particularly recommend the active, relaxed, freewheeling Hang With Friends. Texas Heathens is worth a look too; and Writing to Congress offers inspiration on ways to respond to our "unpresidented" political landscape.

Groups don't clutter up a "timeline" or "news feed" page; some of us are members of many dozens.

And I keep discovering things through the "Latest Activity" in the lower right of each page. (Mobile view: menu, Activity.)

Welcome!
