Catholic Kindergarten Scars

Posted on April 30, 2009 at 5:59pm 1 Comment

I went to a Catholic Kindergarten. We had to go to church everyday. When we got to the wafer- you know "the blood and flesh of Christ" I would cry and refuse to eat the wafer. They would shove it in my mouth and check to make sure I ate it!! Bastards. I didn't want to eat flesh and blood. I didn't understand that it was a wafer. . . they told me it was flesh and blood!!!! One day on our way to church, I hit my head on something. They took me to the nurse. She asked if I was okay to return to… Continue

Ref. Do men exist who do not want to have children!!
Yes....I am living testament!! I am happily married (12 years now).
Obviously being married not part of the Nexus single discussion group....so thought i would just leave a comment on your profile.
Your discussion touched a nerve......both my wife and I, at thirty were back single...dreading the dating game again...particularly the friends setting you up scenario!
However we both met through a dating agency, yes was cheesy joining up and plenty of people with issues, but no more then on a Friday night at the local bar!!!!.....the dating agency allowed us to be both honest & up front, and get through lots of people to find the one…….my wife was literally inundated with men wanting to meet………makes me feel kind of special writing this now….knowing she chose me, although I am probably working progress to her!!!! Anyway neither I or my wife want kids.....sometimes general society can make you feel a bit of a leper by not fitting in with the 2.4 family model......but I wouldn't change what I am....in fact I feel sorry for a lot of people trapped by kids they simply don't want, but they make themselves feel better by saying dumb statements like 'I wouldn’t be without them' Dohh!!!
In answer to your final statement should you give in and date men who have kids, my advice is a definite no!! Either way, whether you are confident you don’t want them or are not sure….if you meet someone who does have them and then fall for them…..later on down the line you risk being trapped into something your heart desired but your head would never agree to……stick to your guns and put the effort into finding Mr. Right….no compromise. Remember the saying ‘do in haste repent at leisure!’ We are social creature and need company….the right company!!
As regards adopting……I think that is a great idea for the future…which you can discuss…..but start with the fact that probably don’t…..then he’ll know where you stand.
Hope this helps….both me and wife have been where you are probably at…………just aim for what you want….and don’t let family or friends dissuade you from your goal. :)

Thanks for the welcome.

You're right - we refuse to lie.
In fact I was just thinking that if we worship anything, it's the truth. Many people like the idea of punishment to murderers or people who commit sexual crimes even if we can't find them. People like the idea of the opposite - that good people get rewarded. There really is no difference in this particular morality between religion and atheism, it's only a matter of truth - we won't lie to ourselves.

By the way, the pictures on your profile are very beautiful. It makes me want to take a trip to Florida and see those caves and blue beaches.

Saw your post about not wanting to have kids. You would probably appreciate the Childless and Godless group here.
