"I read quite a bit about composting. Then just put all my organic throwaway 'stuff' in pile, and water when I think about it. Nature has a way of helping incompetents like me!  Surprised the heck out of me to see the dark rich soil…"

"Randall, I feel the same way and since most things are gasping from the heat I've put them out of their misery - and into compost pile."

"All I can do is sit and 'sighhhhh' as I view the pictures and read about everyone's harvest.  Just amazing what you all are producing.  Daniel your blog info should be in a national magazine!"

"Ditto, ditto, ditto on the heat. The positive note is all my heat tolerant and drought tolerant perennials are now doing their thing and are happy with just a sip from rain barrels. :) Randall in other words you took squirrels on a 'vacation to…"

"Joan, I've come to the conclusion that milkweed does not like to be fussed over. Just a little water, and since I didn't add anything but mushroom compost I can't say whether fertilizer or a different kind of compost would be a…"

"Kathy, I bought one asclepias curassavic, Tropical Milkweed last year from local nursery. It struggled through its first season as I had to learn NOT to water it, just occasionally and not much when I do. It flowered and produced the seed pods which…"

"Randall, finally!  I saw one!  A vole that is. I was watering yesterday morning and the little bugger appeared from under a plant. I have to admit he was cute in spite of the damage I know he can do.  My immediate thought was to buy a…"

"Thanks Spud. I water them for first time this a.m. We had so much rain for so long I wasn't sure they would live and gave them time to really dry out. Planted May 7 - so another month or so should have taters!   Cold frame sounds pretty…"

"Kathy, the only thing I would suggest is several layers of cardboard instead of the black plastic. Better draininage for bed, IMHO. When I finished putting mine together it was almost 3 feet high, and it has settled quite a bit.  I planted…"

I read this article in today's news and couldn't help but feel positive. Surely it isn't just another way of putting out the "Christian Message", at least I hope it isn't.

I really  could relate to you when reading  your reply  to Amanda Ashcrafts thread on Atheism......I am 66 and recently became  attracted  to Atheism...finding quite  a lot of diversity.....However we all do  agree that their is no god and that religion is mostly  based  on  fables and myths....Ever since I inquired about joining  the American Humanist Association, and read the book they sent  "Non Believer Nation" by David Niose, I knew that Atheism fit perfectly into  how I believed...It answered  most of my questions, and gave me peace of mind....It wasn't long before I discovered A/N and made lots of friends  with like  minded  people.....I look forward to your threads  and blogs, so we can share our views...

Thanks for the friend invitation. I used to do that, but didn't figure it had any particular value. It's just a nice thing to do, I suppose!
