"The Conjuring"- Christian conservative propaganda flick

Posted on July 4, 2016 at 7:00pm 14 Comments

So, after recommendation from a friend, I decided to watch the horror flick "The Conjuring", thinking that if it was decent, I may go see Pt 2 (in theaters now).

Well, after watching the first one, I picked up what seemed like a very blatant (in my opinion) agenda.

First off, for a movie that gains some appeal off being a supposedly "true story", the main evil character or spirit seems to be a fictional character based mostly off of ignorant Christian…

How I Came to Atheism

Posted on July 13, 2011 at 9:00pm 6 Comments

OK, so I seen a few atheist friends post similar things on another site, so decided I would. Here's my story of how I came to atheism. I was not going to make a huge deal of stating this on my page, but since people use their religious beliefs as a tool of judgment for "non believers", I might as well be upfront about why I think the way I do. Theists like to accuse atheists constantly of lacking "humility" to find "God", but truth be told, humility led me to my current…

Godless 'Bibles'

Posted on June 4, 2009 at 2:30pm 2 Comments

OK, I haven't blogged here in a while. This is just something I find interesting, so here goes. I have two 'Bibles' in my backpack that are a bit 'different' from the Judeo-Christian one. Basically, both are more secular and deal less with 'God' than with philosophy and morality. One is Anton LaVey's 'Satanic Bible'. The other is Thomas Jefferson's 'Jefferson Bible'.

Let me give a fast crash course on my knowledge or take on both.

LaVey's book doesn't describe worshipping… Continue

Comic Books- Justice League 2079

OK. This is a comic book geek topic. Something that's been in my head for a while, but since I'm no writer, it's not really doing anything. Not sure who else would think this is a good idea, but here goes:

I'm somewhat of a fairweather comic book fan. I might go to shops or even conventions once in a very blue moon, but do not keep up with what's going on in any series of books. I know what I like and the type of characters I like. Superman, as a character, bores me to tears. Boring… Continue

Body and Mind

OK. One of my 'new year's resolutions' was to get in better shape, physically, and mentally. I also figured this would get me out more and help change my mood to be more positive.

I joined a local gym where my brother is a member about 4-5 weeks ago and have been going every day except sunday (open too late and i usually work, plus i need one day off). i actually have a schedule worked out on which muscles i work out each day and cardio is daily. i see improvement, but i'm not… Continue

Hi, Brad. As moderator of the depression and anxiety support group you might want to share this news. Taking omega-3 fatty acid supplements (fish oil) or eating wild fatty fish, might help to alleviate depression.

Hi Brad! As the monitor of Depression and Anxiety Support, I'd like to alert you to a study that may be of interest to a minority of depressed members.

Ketamine Improved Bipolar Depression Within Minutes, Study Suggests

Were I bipolar, I would want to know this.

Thanks Brad. I may not be the best person for the job, as I can be a bit cranky, but I'll attempt to keep my personal crankiness out of the group.

Hey Brad,

Could you change the setting on the Bi group so that more of the discussions are visible? Also, if you have one or more people as moderators, they can add helpful links to the info. section. I'll volunteer.

Snapper Carr wasn't a joke character, However, the comic book experience was quite different in the 50's and 60's when I was growing up than it is now. I still have a JLA with Snapper Carr in it lying around here somewhere.

About your comment on social anxiety on my wall... well. It takes time to overcome the feeling, right? But I would assume that the only way is facing the sources of that anxiety... step by step... one by one.... I was pretty isolated when I was a teenager. But school, and work kind of kicked me out to the world, and there I am. Something I realized in the process is that when I focus my attention to others, I learn a lot about myself. You might try that...

Ah, a fellow North Carolinian!! Thanks for the comment on my page. I am such a nature lover, and that is why I like the Pagan belief. Not for the "Pagan gods"..which I think got misconstrued somewhere. I really think Pagans worship nature..and not gods, but somewhere someone added them. I love it because it is centered on nature, and how it affects us, and how we react to it...
