Heh heh heh, nice. Sounds sort of like my back-story. In my case, the coming out happened when I was 14, when I was complaining to my mother about having to go to CCD every week. It went something along the lines of:
"How much longer do I have to go to these things? I hate it."
"When you've made your Confirmation and are a full member of the church."
"I'm not making my Confirmation. I don't believe in any of this stuff."
Yeah, that went over really well.
I'm sure my lack of belief had crystallized at least a few years before that, but I can't really put my finger on it, at this point. My family was the weekly-mass-going sort, so those last few years, before I turned 18 and could refuse going, were freaking misery.
