About Me:
I joined this site initially in 2012 (See my blog), during which time I lived in Quincy, IL. Since then, I've left Illinois, obtained a Culinary Arts certificate, got married (to a fellow Atheist I might add), and moved to central Missouri.

How Things Change

Hello, all.

As I've posted in the 'About Me' section of my newly updated profile, I joined this site back in April of 2012. This place was quite refreshing then, as it is now. I was in a place where I was being oppressed by religion and this was one of few places where I could feel like I wasn't alone.

My family would always have pictures of the cliche assumption of what Jesus looked like and an abundance of crosses on any number of given surfaces around the house. A few members of the family are so devout that they pray before meals and celebrate Christmas in a manner other… Continue

Yea..another atheist in Quincy!  It's a little rough going for atheists in Quincy which is a fairly conservative/religious town in case you hadn't noticed.  It's hard to find social communities.  I go to the Unitarian church on 16th and hampshire, which is the closest thing we currently have to an atheist group of any kind, though it closes for the summer.  It's good to see more like-minded individuals in the area.  I've lived here my whole life so I'd be curious to hear an outsider's perspective on this community.  Welcome!
