Chuck, I don't know how long you have lived in Giles County, but I grew up there, and as you well know religion is rampant. I would sit in church with my family on Sunday morning (my uncle was the late great Reverend Mack Pinkleton), and cringe in fear of the "fire and brimstone" that was delivered from the pulpit, and the "fear of god" that was drilled into our heads. All the time I am thinking why should you fear a god that is supposed to be pure love. Never made any sense. Still doesn't to this day.
Let me just say, I know what you have to endure, and I know like-minded people are next to non existent in that area. And just like Kelly, I am looking forward to the chance to be with a group of intelligent non believers.
Thanks for the note back Chuck! I'm glad to know there are folks in TN that feel just like me. You are right on it dude! I NEVER believed! Not even when it was being rammed down my neck when I was a child. I keep hoping that this religion thing will just die out, and hope that as more and more of us have the balls to come right out and say, bull shit, more people will follow. That's my hope for humanity.....maybe not in my life time, but I have a child, and I'm raising him to ask lots and lots of questions when he doesn't feel something is right! I gotta keep my eyes open for a meeting of us non believers that is in our neck of the woods. I can't wait to be in a room full of intelligent people!!!!! To me that is my idea of paradise!!!
I started out here on the Nexus as just "Chuck". But in order to differentiate myself from the other 'just Chucks' and also maintain a certain level of anonymity, I've changed my screen name to "Chuck in TN".
