My name is Debbie and I'm a divorced 40 something Marriage and Family Therapist and freelance writer new to Oceanside, California. I'm looking to meet atheist/freethinkers like me for friendship, dating, and networking.
“Even when things are at their worst, there's a little voice in your head saying, 'Good story!’ “
If I had only one word to describe myself, I’d choose story. My life is filled with stories I’ve exchanged with people from all walks of life who I met through personal relationships and my career. The only activity I enjoy more than sharing my story is listening. Everyone has a story to tell, and I'm always ready to listen. I find people fascinating. This is what drew me to the study of psychology, my career as a therapist and my side job helping singles write their online dating profiles. I love helping people share and improve their life stories. Now I'm ready to enhance my own life story by finding my best friend to fall in love with and share my zest for life. Finding a life partner takes time; however, and I'm happy to make new friends along the way, especially people who love to have intellectual conversations and/or who are in to stand up comedy or Improv.
I connect with people easily because I make them laugh and am an excellent listener. I like when people feel comfortable enough with me to move quickly beyond small talk and share part of their life story. This demonstrates that they want me to know them beyond the superficial. I respond by openly sharing myself.
Until recently, I have worked on multidisciplinary treatment team. Now I am working in a private practice clinical setting. While I enjoy the autonomy and love my work, I miss having coworkers to bounce ideas off of. Therefore, I would also like to chat with other mental health professionals who would like to share their career adventures and support each other in the challenging field of mental health care.
If you want to chat, don't hesitate to drop me a line.
