"I am new here and I just wanted to say that my leaving was an evolution. I was a holy ghost filled pentacostal, then I became a messianic jew, then considered converting to judiasm. All the while I was studying the bible and researching the origions…"
Unless you were raised by atheist parents, you probably had some recovering to do when you left religion. The purpose of RR is to provide a landing place for people when they jump from religion. With local support groups throughout the US, Canada, UK, and Australia, and real-time resources accessible to everyone, RR is where to turn when faith has lost its luster.See More
This is the place to post that hilarious irreligious YouTube video, an irreverent, anti-religious cartoon, or other humorous bit of media. Posts that do not reflect an atheist/irreligious theme will be deleted. (Don't make me go Old Testament.)See More

Greetings, Denise! I notice you haven't been active at Atheist Nexus lately. <sigh> Sometimes it can seem a bit fragmented, with different groups for every interest. Please consider a group for socializing, where we talk about whatever's on our minds, Hang With Friends. :D You might feel more at home.
Sometimes I feel like I am going to infect people with my beliefs, or that is lack of beliefs. I have kept being an atheist to my self until recently. it makes me think of when I didn't vaccinat my kids (ha! for my religious reasons at that time) and when I wanted to put them in school, the school administrators acted like my kids were infectious. I had to laugh to myself because if my kids were the ones without a vaccine and the rest of the kids were vaccinated, my kids would get sick not them! Tonight I had to think about alot. I posted a link about benny hinn on my facebook page and commented on it. One of my old christian friends and I started going back and forth on the issues about giving and tithing. for the first time I decided I wasn't going to hide. I was going to say what I wanted. I am tired of pretending to agree with things just to appease others. I have a right to not believe in god. I have just as much right to say how mad a man who seems to live off the money of others makes me,as my facebook friends do to post their hymns and psalms!
Hello Denise, and welcome to this friendly meeting place where freethinking atheists recognise that gods are fictional and religion is a great fraud used to control vulnerable superstitious people;
and how tragic and inexcusable it is that women and minorities have been oppressed these last two thousand years and even longer.
