Hi Leroy,
Thought I'd answer your last 'anemail' here... you asked what an Atheist Buddhist is. I can only tell you what it is to me...

The first part, atheist, you already know. I feel extremely comfortable stating that I KNOW (oh here come the arguments) that there are no gods. As an aside, I've been asked "What if there's a god that has never been described?" I say to that, get a life.

I also consider myself a Naturalist, which is, to my way of thinking, very much intertwined with the Buddhist philosophy. Buddhism does not need to be about believing in any gods, or anything in the traditional sense of spiritual, really. For me, it's simply a philosophy of respect for everyone and everything. I don't place more worth on humans than everything else, I feel that we're all products of earth's evolution, and as such, are equally as valuable. To humanists, we're more important (at least to ourselves) because of our accomplishments as a species. Honestly, I wonder about that... it's not only what we've become able to do, but what sorts of responsibilites we recognize as inherent in these abilities. We've not done too well in that department lately. I do hold hope that we will do better...

So, to sum it up, for ME, an atheist buddhist is a person who, without 'benefit' of 'god direction', has learned to appreciate and respect all of existence. That simple. That complex.

When I was at the March for Women's Lives years ago, there were Christian groups all over the place holding signs. One group was sporting anti-abortion signs. There was a five-year-old holding a "I regret my abortion" sign. It gave the message a whole new meaning, lol.

You mean the annoying little girl who didn't know what a peace sign is?

And what is she a poster child for? lol

Everything is on for tomorrow at 5. Priscilla said we'll be under a tent. I'll know the exact location tomorrow morning. I don't know if that'll help you though, unless you play hookie.

Last year it cost $5 to enter and that was good for the entire week. I don't know if the price has gone up or what.
