Christian Reading Material

Posted on June 23, 2009 at 5:42pm 2 Comments

Today, I happened to walk by a buzz. Several people were standing around gawking at a stack of books. I went over to see what was up. It was a collection of the Twilight Series from Stephanie Meyer. I have never read any of her writings, but I know this series is about Vampires.

"Vampires?" I quizzed. "Yes!" they all replied. "These are wonderful books, well written, with interesting characters." "I liked the movie" another piped in. "Yes, there is another movie coming soon!" which… Continue

Christian Idolatry

Posted on June 19, 2009 at 8:42am 1 Comment

I have noticed that the vast majority of Christians I encounter are engaged in idolatry, and don't know it. True story follows.

During this past Easter season, a piece of artwork depicting Jesus praying in the garden of Gethsemane disappeared from its usual location. One particular person was highly disturbed. This person ranted and raved, waving their arms about claiming that someone had taken down the picture of Jesus. "Who could it have been!?", they cried. "Who could it have… Continue

Working for a Christian Nonprofit

Posted on June 15, 2009 at 9:01pm 5 Comments

I work for a Christian nonprofit. (gasp!) I work for them because I believe in helping the less fortunate. I am surrounded by Christians all day at work. Most of them are intelligent, rational people, except when it comes to their beliefs. I 'came out' as a non Christian after about a year of working there. Some were shocked, some tried to convert me, I got a lot of invites to church. Even a few I'll pray for you responses. I took them for what they were, concern for my well being. Even if it… Continue

Sunday Sinners

Posted on June 14, 2009 at 2:56pm 2 Comments

This is copied from my blog to this blog...

I enjoy Sundays. My partner and I usually head off to the Farmer's Market for some fresh produce, maybe a potted flower, or some of the fabulous Goat Cheese they sell there. Today we rounded up some freshly shucked Silver Queen Corn, Yellow Squash, and snagged a couple Elephant Ears for our shaded back yard. Oh and we got some blueberries as well. We are having dinner with friends, and I am making a Blueberry Cobbler, and some fried… Continue

Performing Religious Music

Posted on June 13, 2009 at 1:34pm 2 Comments

I am a singer. Nature provided me with physical characteristics that produce sounds that can be pleasing to the human ear. People tell me I sing wonderfully. Over the years I finally learned to accept praise. I tell them what I truly believe. I am only a conduit through which the music moves. I enjoy singing. It is freeing in a way that I cannot describe with words. I have heard athletes describe the state of mind they are in when they are playing at their peak. It is much the same for me, and… Continue

Welcome to Atheist Nexus with its 8000 good friends.

A useful group with its 125 discussions and numerous video films is “ORIGINS” (Origins: Universe, Life, Humans, Evolution, Religion....)
One discussion (over 70 posts) is "Proud to be Atheist".
There's much to feel good about
because atheists and humanists hold the intellectual high ground—far removed from the superstitious god believers who submit to a narrow-minded controlling clergy with their imaginary heaven and hell.
