"How pleasant for you, Carl. It looks like the family get-together was a real joy. Sorry to hear about all the problems, Ruth. I hope you get some response and a clear, doable strategy from your doctor soon."

"I'd like to recommend "The Hydrogen Sonata" by Iain M Banks. All of his SF/Space Opera books are good but this one stands out. Written partly because 'religion has virtually nothing reliable to teach us about reality'."

"You're never too old to rock 'n' roll (and lots of other things). And it's true that a PC helps people stay more in touch with the world. There's a lot of information out there just waiting to be gathered in."

Small changes........

Posted on August 14, 2009 at 2:10pm 1 Comment

There was a recent news item on Danish T.V. where an opposition politician from the Social Democratic Party, Christine Antorini, said that the "Our Father" prayer should no longer be used in schools. "It belongs in church and not in schools. We have Christian, Muslim and Jewish children......"

I wrote to her expressing my support but pointing out that children do not get their religion via their D.N.A. but through their upbringing. Therefore it would be more correct to say children of a… Continue

Have a listen to "Trees" on my music. It's by the daughter of an online friend and who's as yet undiscovered. Completely unprejudiced, I think it's good.

Hi-ho hi-ho, it's back to school I go.

The last day of freedom. Tomorrow I'll be back at health school, trying to get the bit of paper that says I'm qualified to do the job I've been doing for the past 12 years. Actually, it's long overdue but it was only in 2008 it became possible to get work experience credited and only take the theory part of the training. The other option has been to start again as a trainee on a trainee salary and spen 8 months in work experience as well as 6 months at school, so it's not so bad. I'll be… Continue

Not alone! At last!

Posted on December 31, 2008 at 1:33am 3 Comments

I've only started using a computer and the Internet this year, so it's been a pleasant surprise to discover that I'm not alone. Not that I live in an overwhelmingly religious society (Denmark) but I meet almost nobody who is a real skeptic/atheist. The vast majority spout things about "there are more things in heaven and earth", usually thinking they are quoting the Bible - it's Shakespeare - and without knowing the other half: "than are dreamt of in your philosophy, Horatio." Don't be narrow… Continue

I had no sleep yesterday -- so I'm tired.  Hoping to get caught up on sleep this weekend.

Good luck on going without tobacco. My thoughts are with you!

Have a nice weekend.

That particular quote was on the Bad Opinion Generator, but I didn't snag it. Too many choices.

Greetings, Ian! I notice you haven't been active at Atheist Nexus lately. <sigh> Sometimes it can seem a bit fragmented, with different groups for every interest. Please consider a group for socializing, where we talk about whatever's on our minds, Hang With Friends. :D You might feel more at home.
