"A lot of wind/rain/hail/sleet/snow in Denmark this weekend and a big freeze predicted overnight. There'll be chaos on the roads as all that slush turns into ice. Just returned from a couple of days with my daughter and son-in-law. Very pleasant…"

Small changes........

Posted on August 14, 2009 at 2:10pm 1 Comment

There was a recent news item on Danish T.V. where an opposition politician from the Social Democratic Party, Christine Antorini, said that the "Our Father" prayer should no longer be used in schools. "It belongs in church and not in schools. We have Christian, Muslim and Jewish children......"

I wrote to her expressing my support but pointing out that children do not get their religion via their D.N.A. but through their upbringing. Therefore it would be more correct to say children of a… Continue

Have a listen to "Trees" on my music. It's by the daughter of an online friend and who's as yet undiscovered. Completely unprejudiced, I think it's good.

Hi-ho hi-ho, it's back to school I go.

The last day of freedom. Tomorrow I'll be back at health school, trying to get the bit of paper that says I'm qualified to do the job I've been doing for the past 12 years. Actually, it's long overdue but it was only in 2008 it became possible to get work experience credited and only take the theory part of the training. I've only started using a computer and the Internet this year, so it's been a pleasant surprise to discover that I'm not alone. Not that I live in an overwhelmingly religious society (Denmark) but I meet almost nobody who is a real skeptic/atheist. The vast majority spout things about "there are more things in heaven and earth", usually thinking they are quoting the Bible - it's Shakespeare - and without knowing the other half: "than are dreamt of in your philosophy, Horatio." Don't be narrow… Continue

I had no sleep yesterday -- so I'm tired.  Hoping to get caught up on sleep this weekend.

Good luck on going without tobacco. My thoughts are with you!

Have a nice weekend.

Greetings, Ian! I notice you haven't been active at Atheist Nexus lately. <sigh> Sometimes it can seem a bit fragmented, with different groups for every interest. Please consider a group for socializing, where we talk about whatever's on our minds, Hang With Friends. :D You might feel more at home.
