About Me:
I'm new to atheism. Only a couple years ago. I'm not out yet about my atheism. Maybe one day, sooner than later I hope.

Hey, man.  What sort of background did you break out of?  If you're in Nashville, I assume it was something kind of nuts.

As for coming out to people you know about your atheism, take it cautiously.  I revealed my disbelief to my mother, when I was around 13 or 14.  I think the only reason that it worked out as well as it did is because I suspect my father was a closeted atheist as well, or at least he was a very weak, fuzzy, liberal theist.  He went to Catholic seminary, in his teens and early 20's, but he dropped out partway through, which makes me suspect a complete loss of faith.

If you're financially beholden to a very religious relative (ie. parents), I'd advise staying the hell in the closet, until you're in more of a position of strength.  Lie through your teeth if you have to, in order to avoid conflict that will cause you financial or social harm, until you're ready to deal with the fallout.

I subscribe to situational ethics, not something black-and-white and useless, like the 10 Commandments.

Oh, and ignore the con-spammer who commented before me.  I already reported the damned thing.
